Ever blink or even sleep for that matter?

Fish do not sleep or blink in what we would consider a normal manner.

They do however rest, which can be equated to a form of sleeping. Many fish including reef fish will retire to caves or under rocks or coral to rest at night, and to avoid being eaten. They stay still, do not feed, or swarm.

Others like some sharks never stop swimming, as it is necessary to have water continously pushed through their gills to allow them to breathe. It is often felt that they "sleep" or enter a stasis period where they are still moving, but are in fact in a rest period or faux sleep.

Well, they don't blink, because they don't have eyelids.

They don't really sleep, either, but they do have periods of rest. Diurnal fish will settle into a crevace, near the bottom, or even just in the open water to rest for the night. Some really zonk out and others remain semi-aware (they need to, in case of predators).

With nocturnal fish, it is the opposite. During the day, they rest in a dark place like a cave, and at night they come out and are active.

They don't blink, but they do sleep. They don't have eyelids so they need it dark in order to sleep.
