in my upper chest and upper back then down my left arm. I checked my bp and it was like 178/154. I waited about 15 mins and it was163/108. My boss sent me home and i went to the dr. she could not find anything that could have caused it, I still am sore under my left breast as if it was hit. Could I have had a small heart attack?

It's possible to break a rib from coughing so hard, also you can irritate the cartilage around them. Pneumonia can give pain also, but if it hurts when you touch it, cough, or move, it more than likely is chest WALL pain, verses, chest pain. But, when in doubt, ask the docs. Second opinion is always OK.

No. You did not have a heart attack. Coughing so hard can make your chest hurt. Remember, you are trying to get all that crap up out of your chest.

you could have damaged tissue in your ribs or chest when you coughed causing a horrible sharp pain and lingering soreness.
