How do you see other houses on Sims 2 while you are in a lot?

I have seen a lot of pictures of sims 2 houses and lots and I can see other houses right by them like "neighbors." Is there some sort of a cheat or something? I do have Sims 2 Nightlife.

To see neighboring houses, go to the "Game Options" screen while in the Neighborhood screen (once you've chosen which neighborhood you want to play in). In the middle of the "Game Options" screen is an area called "Lot View Options". Here you can select view distance and fade (which can allow you to see more neighbor houses), neighbors on or off (which will let you actually see neighboring houses), and selectable neighbors (which lets you go to a playable neighboring lot without first going to the Neighborhood screen).

it's in either the options menu when you're on the lot or when you're in the neghborhood. i don't reamember, but i enabled this a LONG time ago and I know it's not a cheat, just in the options section where you control the music and the quality of the visuals; where you disable or re-enable items to make the game either faster or slower.
