Can a pregnancy test say that you are pregnant when you're not? Isn't there some kind of hormone imbalance that it could pick up on and mislead you by saying you're pregnant when you're not???

The corpus leutum is the sack that releases the egg after ovulation. This produces HCG once the egg attaches to the side of the uterus, ensuring it stays in place and until the placenta takes over making this hormone later... HCG is only present when you are pregnant. This is why a false positive is so rare, however not non-existant! Sometimes the egg will implant but is not viable. Aka, a very early miscarriage that you may not even know you had. This will show as a positive on your pergnancy test one day, but if you took another a few days later you would get a negative.

miracles happen. Are you sure he's steril? I have heard of that as and excuse til someone winds up pregnant. If it is hormone related there is probably hope. Or their may be a surgical procedure that will work. He should see a urologist - who may refer you to a fertility specialist or endocrinologist
