I have an old pentium 3 computer. A friend says he can put my current drive (6 GB with free 1.1GB) into a newer Pentium 4 processor computer box for me. The new box only has one drive slot so I can't add another drive later. Would you recommend doing that. The cost of a new 17" flat screen with new processor drive box (with my existing drive) would be about $250. The new box will also have a CD-R and DVD drive. Any suggestions?

A six gig hard drive. Not worth the effort to move it. If you are looking to spend $250 to upgrade the box, I would recommend that you check Dell (and other sites). You can get a low end PC with a 40 gig drive, CD/DVD, etc. starting at $300. It would cost you $100 to replace your existing drive.

I would not spend the money to upgrade the PC and then put a 6GB in it. Either go with a larger drive at the time you purchase the upgrade, and check into the price of a new PC. You can do better for the money you are talking....

(No insult intended to whoever is selling you the new box...)

You can get a new 80 GB drive for around $50 or so. Check this link:

6 GB is not going to be very helpful with todays programs.

Get a robust 1gb or 2gb of RAM, and XP will be comfortable. I were given 3gb for my previous Pentium 4 Dell measurement 4600, and it helped a ton. once you're trying to run previous video games, you may want a snap shots card, yet or try to be high-quality.
