First - read about animals.

Visit animals - and start with kittens at your local SPCA and see them without holding them or touching them.

Visit animals at the zoo, and see how they are in their "somewhat natural" setting.

Notice your reaction - are you curious? And do you feel safe at a distance from the animal?

Then try going back to the SPCA and see which of the animals you are drawn to see again & again. Also check out the local pet stores and see what animals they have.

If you really want to get over your fears, you could volunteer your service at the SPCA.

GOD bless us one and all, always.

When you were younger did you have a mean dog snap at you? or any animal bite you? My advice is to find a friend or family member who has a really really nice pet and spend time with that animal. Pet it, play with it, etc. Once you get past your fear of dogs/cats, you can keep going on to the next animal. Oh and don't worry about the touching the fish thing, I'm the same way even though I've had a BUNCH of fish and I'm a total animal lover!

Get a Labrador puppy. Labs are the most friendly, docile dogs and if you get one as a puppy they are less scary and actually even though they playfully might bite their teeth are so small they won't hurt. As the puppy grows you'll learn to trust each other and eventually you'll have a dog you love and aren't afraid of, who can also protect you and give you a great playmate. They are great dogs for training, tricks, kids, taking out in public, ect. If you can't afford to care for a dog try signing up for a dogsitting program. Many people volunteer to take care of puppies who are selected to be trained as seeing eye dogs. They are in foster homes as puppies and then get trained by other people.

some dogs and a cow once once chase me like hell...when i was small..so i was afraid of them..now...you know what i wanna be..a vet..yes a vet..i overcome my fear eventually and also gradually...
i don't quite remember the exact process of me getting over my fears..but it's about gradual acceptance..it was slow...it took me years....but i am now great with animals...
it's about getting nearer to them each day..it's like first you just look and observe from afar and gradually shortens the distance when you feel that you're ready...
and after a long time and when you also feel that you're ready..try and pat them..it is easier with a friend's help..after that first pat and days and probably months of observation..you will know...that gradually you are not afraid of them...
it's good to do this with a very friendly pet and pet which belong to someone you know and the dog recognize you also....
you know when you're ready....
p/s you got the very basic requirement---> you love animals and if you're determined...you can do it...and you will do it...and you will overcome your fear~~

good luck~
i have faith in you~~~~

u should get another dog or puppy they are innocent and play with him/her get to know it love it play with it feed it and then you'll know that all dogs and animals arent bad or gonna attack you. you dont even have to get a dog, if your friend has a dog then sit on the ground and watch it and if it comes over just not move and he'll probably sniff you and walk away but the best solution is to get a puppy! and its the most funnest! or another good option is raising a guide dog puppy all their puppies are bred for their temperament and labs are great dogs i am currently raising a guide dog its the best experience i have ever had.
