they are making the first book, Northern Lights, into a film atm but they have decided to call it The Golden Compass... well, I mean, come on! It's not even a compass for god's sake!! And Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel? I always imagined him as being tall dark and somewhat handsom... definitely not Daniel Craig. If they trash this book like they did with Eragon I am seriously going to put in a complaint to someone, pleading them not to make another fantastic book into a rubbish film... I just need to find out who 2 write to...

First film should be out later this year.
The National Theatre have run a stage adaptation in the past couple of years, the trilogy has been condensed into two plays.

Not yet! The first one is being filmed, with Nicole Kidman playing Mrs. Coulter and Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel.

I think there is a movie version being flimmed now. I have seen the stage version in London which starred Timothy Dalton (ex 007) as Lord Asriel.

It could be utter shite though rather like Narnia was. Especially if the Americans have got hold of it.
I mean, fancy calling it "The Golden Compass"! Dumbing down for an American audience or what?
(I refer you of course to the Madness of King George which was denied his number as thick Americans would say but we haven't seen I or II yet! as a prime example of this.)

The first one is due out soon with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, but it's directed by the guy who did American Pie so I don't know if it'll be any good
