When you think you're happy, are you really happy? Since happiness is not quantifiable, then how can you be sure that happiness is what you really feel? If happiness is easily attained, why is that we can never be happy with what we are?

it's not elusive. you have it in the palm of your hand. But you can't see it because you are too busy trying to look for it..... you can reach happiness by making someone else happy. To forget all about you and to think only about others will give you a sense of integration with the universe.... that's happiness... to feel connected and in the right place.... That's why when you love someone you feel happy.. because you are connected to that person..... what we don't see is that to rely our universal connection to an only being is to put our happiness in a bank that usually gets robbed. Don't look further , seek in your own depths and you'll find it

No. You choose to be happy in whatever situation you find yourself in. If you count on money or material things or other people for your happiness then yes, I suppose it is elusive. When you realize that happiness is entirely a choice and that it's completely up to you to make it then you have the real answer to finding happiness.

I don't think happiness is the most elusive thing in the world, rather, I think it is the hardest thing/emotion for a person or people to actually see within themselves.

That doesn't make any sense as happiness is not something you search for and find. It is something you allow yourself to live in. Happiness is always right there. I guess the ability to live in it might be elusive.

Happiness isn't having what you want, it's wanting what you have. Nobody's going to hit you over the head and tell you
"...you're happy." It's a state of mind.

Possibly so. It seems to be one thing we do not recognize while we are experiencing it. But we remember it later!
And, sometimes we forget that it isn't always accidental. We can arrange our lives to allow for more happy moments by making good choices.

Not real, it's inside you just have to peel all the crap away. Simplicity is happiness.
