Does the doctor take a urine/blood sample and test it on the spot? or does the doctor refer you to the blood unit in hospital where they test you for all sorts of things and send the results back to the doctor?

The doctor will usually send you to a lab for a blood test, which takes a few days to come back.

There are two ways. They can test your urine which will give you an on-the-spot answer, but it is exactly the same as the tests you buy at the store. Usually you end up paying twice as much for the same test.

They can also test your blood, which has to be sent to a lab. If they don't draw blood at the doctor's office, then they would send you to a hospital (that just depends on the doctor's policy). You would have to wait for those results.

Unfortuantely, blood tests are really expensive and most insurance companies won't pay for it just for a pregnancy test when they could do a cheap urine test, so you probably won't get a blood test unless you are high risk or something.

In the end, just go buy a test at the store. It will be cheaper and just the same as the one at the doctor. At your first pre-natal checkup (once you know you are pg), they will do a blood test and they will test you for lots of things (iron levels, sugar levels, hormone levels, etc).

The doctor can either perform a urine test in the office or take a blood sample and send it to a lab for testing. If the blood test isn't marked urgent, then the results usually come back in 1-3 days.

A doctor can also refer you to the blood unit in a hospital, but he or she usually indicates that the blood should only be tested for pregnancy.

that is regularly occurring to get a pretend adverse on a being pregnant try - some human beings even get pretend negatives on the medical doctors place of work. The try on the healthcare professional is in many cases as precise because the living house try, yet there are different issues that could want to result interior the adverse result. because you took the try interior the evening your hCG degrees were likely decrease than once you've been examined on the medical doctors place of work. in case you drank a mess of fluids earlier testing then it would want to have diluted your urine. also, if this became the digital try then it would want to each so often be somewhat a lot less precise in a way. The checks with the lines will each so often coach somewhat faint because the hormones are so low, although the line continues to be there so that is an excellent. The digital checks should be more effective particular of the helpful earlier declaring "pregnant" or "no longer pregnant", so it would want to require a higher factor of hormones. perchance you took it incorrect? (unlikely, yet nonetheless plausible) because the healthcare professional examined your urine and it got here lower back helpful then it ability you're pregnant even regardless of the reality that to procure the adverse try after. pretend positives are not any further plausible (till you study the try after 10 minutes and then there might want to be an evaporation line which will appear as if an excellent, yet i'll vow you that the healthcare professional study it earlier that). as a way to get an excellent you'll have hCG on your gadget, which in common words shows up when you're pregnant. Congratulations.

I never had a doctor 'test' me, I went in with my own results both from a urine test and a blood test--both of which you can get on your own before going to the doctor. However, it is my understanding that he does a urine test pretty much like the ones you do at home.

They test urine first on the spot. Blood if they are fairly certain your pregnant but the urine test was negative. (some women don't have enough of the pregnancy hormone in their urine to test positive on a urine test). The labs for a full pregnancy panel are separate.

The doctor will usually do a urine test on the spot depending on how late you are. They may also do a blood test, but they should be able to collect it there. It really depends on how late you are and the Dr. office or clinic you go to.

Well, since this just happened to me a few weeks ago, I went to the doctor's office who then referred me to a blood lab. I immediately went and had the blood test done and had the results by the next morning. Hope this helps!

No usually they just draw your blood to check for pregnancy. If they do a urine test usually all you do is pee in a cup and they take the specimen and check it. Usually the result is shown right away.
