Depending where you live, about $100-$150. Don't call one of the big names. Not necessary.

I live in New England and I called our gas company because we thought we had a leak and they were out in a half an hour, couldn't find anything wrong, but there was no charge for the service call. Most gas companies take the gas leak stuff very seriously. Be careful, be at home or close to home when you call, i was at work and they said that they were going to bust down my door if I wasn't home by the time they got there. Defiantly get a carbon monoxide detector, could save your life

I live in southeast Michigan and we have Consumers Energy here. All I had to do was say "gas leak" over the phone to them and they were at my house within 45 mintues and capped it off for free. I would call them first. And plumbers don't fix gas problems. Depends on where the gas leak is... if it is around your furnace call a heating and cooling place. Most around me charge under $100 for a house call and then whatever parts you need. Good luck... buy a carbon monoxide detector, gas leaks are very bad.

RE: Did plumber over charge me on leaking faucet repair? Last week a plumber fixed a leaking faucet in my bathtub. It took him two hours and he charged me two hundred thirty dollars. Did he over charge me or is this the going rate to get a leaking faucet fixed. By the way, no new handles or anything like that was replaced.

Take some soap water and spray on the gas pipe and find out where it's leaking from, then i would shut the gas off. If it's at a connection, you might tighten it and it may stop. Test with the soap water again. If not you may need to either replace the pipe or contact someone who can help you, if your not handy or unsure of being able to do it. Good luck.

It depends. Usually they charge about $45 to $60 per hour during normal working hours. That is not supplies. They may need a new pipe to replace the old one. So you will have to call and see, but a gas leak needs to be fixed asap

Why would you use a plumber for a gas problem? Plumber- fixes plumbing and things to do with water, pipes and sewers.
Gas people fixes gas pipes and connections.
I guess every area have different rules for what qualifications and license. one must have to be allowed to touch and repair a gas line.
That should be a biggie.

Many gas companies will fix it for free or a much lesser charge than a plumber. Contact the company you buy your gas from.

Without having more details, it's hard to say. They usually require a pressure test of the whole piping system after repairs-so expect at least $500.
