When it is THEM that are needy/desperate with low self esteem?
Why do they do it when they know this (or should know this)?

This is a very good question. I don't think that most people (not just females) realize that the reason they have such an attitude problem and who is always putting others down or placing themselves above others is because they themselves have a low self esteem or needy for attention. You find it on here alot. Someone will ask a very normal question and someone will comeback with something so totally off the wall or ignorant and mean. They are the ones who feel the need to be recognized and they want no one else to get the spot light. Sad but true.

Sorry, the WOMEN I know don't do that to each other. You MUST be referring to GIRLS. Women are more confident in themselves. Ya got the needy/desperate thing all backwards there dude. And low self esteem? You need to be around real women, and stop hanging around the little girls

Speaking as a woman, I'd say you're right.
My first response was going to be, "Women show their insecurities because honesty is the best policy. It's better to show something than to hide it." Then I read your details, and yes, cattiness is a real problem. A catty woman is trying to be the best, not necessarily competing for the same man, but just to be the best looking, the best mother, the one with the biggest boobs, whatever. And to feel good about themselves, they put others down.
Not, as you say, "always." I hope I'm not guilty of it.

Men do it too - they usually buy flash cars and drive around with one foot on the dashboard and their arm hanging out the window whilst lying down in a near horizontal position. Women have a moan to bolster themselves up - men do it by acting like jokers! - we are all the same.

I want you to know that we are not all like this. I think most girls are prettier me and a lot are smarter than me. I don't insult or put other people down. But I do agree with you. A lot of girls are like this. Like they get mad if their husband or boyfriend looks at a another girl. I don't care if my husband looks at other women. I am secure enough to know that he does not want anyone else.

To undermine the sexual competion. When your sexual appeal is based on looks then you have to undermine the appearence of others.
Men compeate the same way, but over the issues that women find imprtant in mates, ie: strength and money.

Probably, it's because they feel insecure and would genuinely like someone to pay them a small compliment, so that they can feel good about themselves, if only for a short while !!

Its just what women do. They are catty. Most women who put other women down do have a low selfesteem but it doesnt have to be just women who do this . I have known men who did this too. They hate themselves so they put someone else down to look good and feel better.
