All you should need to do is bring a copy of his birth certificate with you to the bank if you're already an account holder there. All they "should" need to do is verify he is who he is and that you are his parent.

Just take it to your bank and explain to them the person the check is to is an infant and they will have you more then likely write his name in then co-sign it...I got an insurance refund on a policy for my son who is 6 and they made the check out to him and this is what the bank had me do. Although using it to set up and account in his name might secure his future, I'd go into the bank and see what they say.

You can cash it but it would be a good start to his own account if you opened one and contributed a small amount each month or so. It would mount up to give him a good start when he is older. I think maybe that's what your Grandparents may have had in mind

i'd start an account with his name. like a trust fund. save for when he really needs it. maybe college, or when he's 18. but if you need it now for diapers, formula or things like that you should be able to cash it.

You can cash it at your bank. You'll sign his name and then print parent of minor and then sign your name. That's what National City has me do.

you should be able to just cash it. i remember my mom use to get checks for us when we were kids and she'd just sign it. take birth verification just to be safe. probably easiest if you have an account ,then the bank will know you.

I had the same thing happen. My bank made us just sign the back and everything was fine. I really wonder what people are thinking when they do that though. :-)

Ask your grandparents to write another check and put your name on it.No one will cash it,to much check fraud going around.give the first check back.Or someone who has an account can deposit it into their account and give you the money.good luck.
