... is either lying or has never had to scrape by paycheck-to-paycheck on minimum wage. Or forgot what it was like to live on Ramen noodles and drive a 10 year old car. Probably had a mommy and daddy who bought them a car, put them through college, paid for their wedding, and helped them with the down payment on their first house. And obtained their first "real" job with someone else's help.

Who disagrees with this statement? And please, unless you're either stuck in a dead-end job that you can't afford to quit or had to put yourself through college and have a student loan payment that's bigger than your car payment, and have had to literally work for everything you have (i.e. no handouts or loans from mommy and daddy to get you started), I'm not interested in your response!

Scrapping to get by year after year is bullshit

You work hard and still have to worry about basic necessities.
I know what it's like to sleep without heat, worry about paying house taxes, hoping my bald tires will last just a little longer.
On and on and on

I disagree totally. I have been there and done that. I was very happy when I was able to open a small charge account at the grocery so I could buy a loaf of bread and a quart of milk so the kids could eat.

I readily admit that money can solve many problems, and even make some worries go away. That does relieve stress but that doesn't mean that you are happy. Money can't buy good health, money can't buy a good family, money can't buy real friends, money doesn't buy a good relationship, money doesn't solve a bad marriage.
Sometimes you have no choice except to accept your station in life. Until you can have a happy life without money, you will never attain a happy life with money.

When I think of the things that have brought me the most happiness, some of them include "I have enough money to get .......", but some don't.

And yes, the times that we've lacked money has brought stress. But there are MANY people with all the money in the world with whom I'd never trade places - think of almost ANY movie star who's been on the cover of any magazine in the check out stand.... happy? I don't think so.

The bible tells us to be married well (don't be unequally yoked). It says that it's better to live in a tent with a woman who loves you than in a mansion with a nag. (paraphrased) I think that following the Bible's instruction (actually following it, not just pick and choose) will make people happy. Anyhow, it's been working for me.

Money isn't important?
well it is right up there with Oxygen.
rich folks spend less time worrying about money than poor folks do.
now 'happyness' can be acquired with out excessive money if you do not get sold in to the consumerism rampant in our lives.
do you really need 100$ jeans? 4000$ watches? 1500$ set of tire holders on 2000 - 10000$ cars . heck no. your ego may if you're conned enough.
most people are taught how to acquire money but never to manage it.
when people learn that they do not need that new car on a loan but can buy cars cash no older than 3-5yrs and not change them out every 2 yrs. money can buy happyness.
if you know how to use it not be used by it

I don't think money 'buys' happiness, but it sure as heck helps a person be happier in general! Who can be happy wondering if they can get to work the next day cuz they dont have gas money, or wondering if their lights will be shut off when they get home??
Not me!
