most likely they did escape... think about it.. i'm pretty sure at least one of their cold dead bodies would have beached somewhere like a whale

Perhaps we could try a reconstruction. Let's pretend that the UK is Alcatraz (not too difficult), build a raft and see where we end up.

I think they made it. They planned it out to thoroughly not to. They weren't found so I hope for the best.
