Just be his friend. Don't listen to the others. He needs to know that his life will get back to normal someday. Just hang with him and do the stuff that you would normally do if all this had not happened. Play video games, watch TV, study together, whatever. If he wants to talk about everything he will. Just let him know that you are there for him.

As for those other people. Tell them that this should not become a huge debate to add excitement and drama to their lives. When the subject comes up leave the room. Shawn needs his friends very much right now.

You are an AWESOME friend!

Just be his friend and don't listen to those people. Just don't drill him about what happened to him the past 4 years. If he wants to talk to you about that, let him bring it up.

talk to him. Do not ask him questions like what has happened just tell him you are glad he is back and you are there if he needs a friend.

Don't worry about what other people think. Do what you know is the right thing to do.
