Is it true that when you listen to the babies heart beat and its going really fast that it could be a girl? Or is that an old wives tale?

I thought that too. I am now 28 weeks pregnant, and from about 12 weeks to 20 weeks I was convinced I was having a girl because the heart beat was always, and still is, about 158. At 20 weeks I had an ultrasound, and I am having a boy, 100% positive that it is a boy : ) He wasn't shy : ) I was told that the heart rate can be high because your baby is just active, which is a good thing.

That is definately a wives tale. The only way that i have found to be pretty accurate is the way you're shaped. If you're not showing then i'm not sure, but if you are and you're more like a basketball then it's usually a boy, but if you're shaped like a watermelon (more weight out to the sides and more gained elsewhere) then it's usually a girl. That could be wrong too, but i know the heartbeat thing is very unpredictable, my son had a fast rate and my best friend had two girls and one had a fast beat and one slow, so there's no way to tell that way.

old wives tale,,,but with my girls there heart rate was always higher and with the boy(35 weeks) its been low 140's. So there may be some truth to it, and my doc has said before based on the heart rate , oh sounds like a girl/ boy with each pregnancy.

Nope........old wives tale. All babies heartbeats start out really fast 160-170 and gradually go down during the pregnancy.

THERE ARE ALOT OF OLD WIVES TALES OUT THERE. SO I WOULD ONLY BELIEVE WHAT THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU.

If I remeber right, my babies had it backwards. My son had the fast heartbeat and my daughter had the slower heartbeat.
