It just means that taking on or supporting your brother's burdens are no problem, as he is very special to you. It also means you would take on the physical burdens for them, as well as the mental ones, because you really care.
There is an article on wiki which discusses the origin of The Hollies' song - here is a quote:
The origin of the title of the song has caused great speculation. In 1924, the first editor of Kiwanis Magazine, Roe Fulkerson, published a column carrying the title "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother". Dated September 1924, the article speaks of Fulkerson's encounter with "a spindly and physically weak lad" carrying a baby and "staggering towards a neighboring park".
" 'Pretty big load for such a small kid' I said as I met him. 'Why, mister,' he smiled, 'He ain't heavy; he's my brother.' "

The saying comes from the old movie "Boys Town" with Spencer Tracy, he played a Priest that had a home for orphan boys. Then one of the older boys came trudging through the cold & snow carry his little brother. When the Priest asked him "isn't he heavy for you son" ? The boy answered "he's not heavy he's my brother" !

It's amazing how people respond on here. The statement is from a song (60's by the Hollies) and the name of a famous African-American print.
It is referring to the fact that sometimes we have to carry others to help them get to the same place or a better one. In this case the person indicates that it is a burden he is willing to bear.

I don't really know and it is funny you ask that because I have that cd by the Hollies in my car right now and listen to it a lot. It is a good song and if it wasn;t, why did a lot of bands cover it? I guess to me it means that everyone is a brother no matter who they are.

It means that while everyone else is looking up to my brother for his talents or whatever I am not seeing all of what they are seeing. He's not heavy he's my brother.

it means that the person loves his brother and looks past appearance. They see their brother for who they are and not what they look like
