I think anything could be considered the hood, but of course, dumbasses always refer to the stereotyped version they saw on MTV or in a BET rap video. As usual, the media tries to give whites an "inside view" of all the cultures and what not that they can't experience in their own little neighborhoods, but in the process they cut out everything normal and only show the juicy parts that sell the best. Great example of why I hate BET and MTV...Why are the only blacks on those stations NOTHING like me? Am I not black? I am. And because I don't shake my "booty" on command, don't answer to "ho" or "b*tch", and get good grades in school, people tell me, "You don't act black". Both whites and blacks have said that to me and it is frustrating.

I know this is random, but does it ever get to you how Caribbean tourism commercials make it look like everyone goes to Jamaica and has all sorts of fun with black people there? I mean, here in America you AVOID black people, but you cross US borders and now we're fun? I'm lost lol.

when i first heard "hood" (in a rap song actually) i thought they were talking about "hoodies" the head part that hangs from raincoats and sweatshirts, etc.

i don't think of trailer parks as hoods, (i assume you mean predominately white ones, though there are many of other races who live in trailers) because i think of urban life when i think of hood.

and then i think of new york, where there are lots of 'hoods. so i have no idea why people would only think of blacks and black culture. maybe because it's "black" slang, while Latinos would call it a barrio, etc. when i think barrio, i don't think Blacks or Asians or Whites either.

It is because the popular culture embraced the slang of rap and hip hop. Also the movie Boyz in the Hood, made the image of ghetto and or black neighbourhoods filled with images of black people.Combining the music at the time and the John Singleton and Spike Lee movies, the Hood came to be known for the black race.

When I hear the word "hood" in reference to a person, I think of a mobster. Not sure why, maybe the Godfather movies?

When I hear "hood" used to describe an area, I think of it just as a shortened version of neighborhood. My husband and I call our neighborhood "the hood" jokingly, and its a nice, all white area.

I think the work "hood" is just a slang word like "cool", not necessarily associated with a specific race.

since i live in a remote WI tiny town, I actually refer to my hood as that, and we have only 1 black family living in our midst. I call it the hood because my red neck neighbors need a lesson in tolerance, of black people AND other white people.

When I think of "hood" i think of caos and violence, and my "hood" seems to have a lot of that type of discord amongst it's inhabitants. I am seen as anti-social just because I don't have time to play the neighborhood gossip games, talk smack and act like they're all friends. Could care less. i did not buy my house to make more friends, like it seems others have, and I have pretty much nothing in common with those who are so two-faced and vain.

And yes, I consider a trailer park a hood. maybe it's the image of "poor" people that is the real issue...and racists see black people as poor and dirty, which is not the case, but most of my own hood rats seem to have that caveman thought still. And, I actually don't know of any black people who lived in trailers at all...they're all white. At least what I have personally seen in my life.

Hood means any neighborhood area that's got a high crime rate. There's black hoods, Mexican hoods, white hoods, mixed hoods... it isn't just a black thing.

Blacks popularised the term "hood". More black people use the term "hood" than anyone else. In rap songs, the "hood" is cool. How can you not tie in "hood" to blacks?

it ought to advise the two. it is definetely a race, besides the undeniable fact that it could additionally be a manner of life too, purely as being white could make you the two area of a race and area of a manner of life. A way of life is purely the ideals and practices that are accompanied by using a collection of human beings.

to me the "hood" is the "ghetto" which isn't just "black" neighborhoods. just poor ones. people who assume the "hood" is where only black people reside is because you only see black people talking about it on tv and in their songs.
