Yeah, pretty often. I usually think I have a pretty decent memory, but now and then somebody comes up to me at a bar or party or just out on the street somewhere and acts like I'm a long lost friend. Sometimes I recognize them and don't recall their name, but sometimes I just don't even recognize them.

A few possible explanations:
1. I was drunk or at least buzzed when I met them in the first place
2. I am a local musician that used to play pretty often around here ... if you're up on stage trying to let people know who you are, they're more likely to remember you than vice versa
3. I've looked about the same for years now, whereas a lot of folks my age change their look a lot. Grow (or shave) a beard, dye their hair, grow long hair, etc.
4. I'm just a jackass and can't keep names and faces straight

Either way, it's embarassing. If it's a guy just call him "dude", if it's a girl just call her "babe" and hope they don't corner you with a question like "you don't remember me do you?"

Yes and it is so embarassing, because how do you say in the middle "umm who are you?"
