Has anyone gotten the job they wanted even after?

A bad interview? Or being late for the interview? When I came to interview for this job I wanted it so bad. But when I came to it I got a little lost and was about 10 minutes late. I thought for sure I wasn't going to get the job...The interview went great but the whole time I was worried about the tardiness thing. Surprisingly enough they called me the very same day to offer me the job. Has anyone ever felt they weren't going to get the job because of something that went wrong but ended up getting it?

never had a job interview..
I would not know..but you must have been best of best...
