You now know about the the problems with Captain Townsend. But think about being a bird in a gilded cage. It's like being in a freak show in a circus. See the lady whose sister is a Queen but does nothing herself!! I'm surprised she didn't shoot herself instead of drinking and smoking herself to death! George Washington, John Hancock, John Adams and Ben Franklin all had the right idea! No monarchy and live on your own merits! The poor woman basically wasted her life. That is what is truly sad!

Princess Margaret was never allowed to marry the man she really loved. He was Captain Townsend. He was a divorce. So she put country before her feeling. She never found true love after her divorce from Lord Snowden. She had plenty of lovers etc. But sadly ended up lonely. She was a very heavy smoker.

Why was her life so sad? Well, for a start she squandered any chances she had to be something useful. With her social position and wealth she could have accompolished a lot of good for others. As for being alcholic? Well, like any others it ran in her family along with homosexuality, bisexuality, cross-dressing, aldultery, drug abuse and booze (the royals were a fun bunch of degenerates!)

Good Lord, if I was born into that nuthouse of royals and all of those protocols, I'd be hitting the sauce at the break of day. too. Plus, there was that dead end love quest that would never come to be. I imagine just the daily grind put her over the top.

Peter Townsend.
She had to give him up... the monarchy machine didn't approve,
Pity it didn't work for Chales and Cammilla
