You must mean motorcycle helmets - as I've ridden a bike for over 40 years now without a helmet and never had a problem. I think that things get too carried away with government making too many laws. Why do we have to wear a seatbelt in the car, but a motorcyclist doesn't have to wear a helmet?

No, some people believe that the benefit of the feeling of the wind in your hair and the freedom of letting people choose their own lifestyle is more valuable than feeling safe and secure. I don't understand that people who want to feel safe and secure is constantly trying to project their lifestyle on to other people, like mothering everyone. Its like mandating that everything that is bad for you is illegal. But some of us...like fast food, smoking, riding without a helmet, and not going to the gym. So why don't you let us be.

i don't believe that not wearing a helmet means you have nothing protect. what i don't believe is why it's ok in some states not ok in other but in all states you have to wear a seat belt? it makes absolutely no sense but then again neither does the government.

If you look at the rate of deaths per number of accidents you find that it is safer not to wear a helmet

Ask a question. Don't state an assinine opinion.
I choose when and why to wear one.
And I never carried a "flatshovel".
On the other hand, there was the "jaws of life".

but, but.. it takes away our freedom! (sarcasm)
The stupidest thing I have seen was a bad accident in CO, I am pretty sure the rider did not survive. There was a helmet attached to what was left of his seat though. Darwin wins again I suppose.

a guy in my neigborhood came by, and his hair was shaved off and there were hideous surgery scars and bruises all over his head and limbs. we asked him what happened and he said that he was in a motorcycle accident and wasn't wearing a helmet. The doctors had to shave off all his hair to do surgery, and left nasty scars and etc.

if you crash on a motorcycle, there's over a 20% chance you're dead anyway.
but they say that wearing a helmet decreases your chance of death by 50%.
doesn't make sense NOT to wear one, really.
