They found a cyst on my right ovary at my first baby's 12 week scan and monitored it carefully. Unfortunately it grew big (10cm in diameter) and moved down under the baby that it blocked the birth canal. I had to have C section to get the baby and it out. They also took my ovary. However, it didn't stop me getting pregnant 10 months later!
This is just my experience, and I don't want to scare you. If there are any problems you will be referred to a specialist consultant and your options will be discussed in detail. Your midwife will be able to discuss any concerns you may have, and I'd advise you to talk to her if you're at all worried. Best of luck.

surgery is discouraged during pregnancy because you could bleed abnormally, losing more blood than expected, and it would endanger you, not just the baby. and of course, whatever happens to you, also happens to the baby.
in fact, even minor surgery is not allowed, which is why tooth extraction is also a no-no during pregnancy. procedures that are otherwise normal when you are unpregnant, can actually become life-threatening once you are.
sorry to burst your bubble, but you'll probably have to wait till some time after you've given birth (not immediately!). one other thing though, which might hearten you, is that, depending on where the cyst is, it could come out vaginally too, at the same time that you deliver the baby.
wouldn't that be cool? :)

Having cysts when pregnant is normal. It should go away by itself. I had one both times that I was pregnant and they both went away. If it is causing you pain then you should let your doctor know. They might want to do more sonograms on you to keep track of how big it is and if it is getting any bigger.

I don't see why not. You can have operations during pregnancy & the 2nd trimester is best. I had my appendix out at 14 weeks pregnant. The ovary is outside the uterus so is should not affect the baby. I would go and see you doctor to discuss it with him. I don't know how you'd get on with the NHS though as they seem to have long (several months) waiting lists for non-emergency surgery. Good luck & I hope your pregnancy gets more comfortable.

Yes, pregnancy hormones can cause it to get larger, call your OB however mine would not allow it & gave me some meds to control the size, it actually broke during childbirth (completly safe & normal) and never returned, you may want to ask for yearly inetrnal ultrasounds post baby once you have a ovarian cyst you are prone to them

My wife had one removed while she was pregnant but we didn't know it. The doctors in the sh_t hole we were staying didn't check. After it was found that she was pregnant, they recommended she abort. She deiced not to and take the chance. 7lb boy. no immediate problems but he does have a minor learning disability. Not worth it.
