Some may say that you are too old to start, but what I would do is find a NASCAR training tack, where the real professionals and those trying to get into racing actually go to learn how to handle a car on a track going over 200 miles an hour. Find a builder, and a few sponsors and live your dream. DON'T LET ANYONE PISS ON YOUR DREAM BY TELLING YOU THAT YOU CAN'T DO IT, OR THAT IT IS TOO DANGEROUS. I guarantee you one thing, Dale Earnhardt didn't think it was a tragedy and certainly wasn't afraid to die doing something that he loved, neither do I. It sucks that he's gone, but that's the price that you have to be willing to pay, if that is your dream.

Did you mean to type "am I young enough?"
Racing is pretty strenuous. My dad, who's in his 60's, raced stock cars for 30 years. When he and his racer friends hit their mid 40's, stuff started to HURT!
But Dale Sr. was still going strong at 49, so why not try, if you have a car and the time & money to put into it.
