My bf and I are planning a trip to the outer banks for the summer. Where should we stay, and what should we visit? He has never been, and I haven't since I was a small child. Help! :)

Generally, the further north or south you go, the thinner the crowds. Duck to the north, Rodanthe and Hatteras to the south. For a change of pace, consider a B&B in Manteo instead.

Visit: the Wright Brothers visitor center, Jockey Ridge, Lost Colony play, a fishing pier, the many seafood restaurants. Also consider: deep-sea fishing trip, renting jetskis, surfing lessons.

I have only been there once. We stayed in Rodanthe with a couple of friends. We had to drive about 45 minutes to get to any restaurants. We were super secluded. So, if you are looking for seclusion, that would be a good place.

I thought that Nags Head was nice. There was more to do there than Rodanthe.

It really depends on what you are looking for.
