Easy. Divide the total by 1.14.
example item cost 3.98 + 14% tax
3.98+(.14x3.98)
3.98+0.56=$4.54
4.54/1.14=3.98
You may run into a cent or two difference with rounding up. They seldom round down in monetary transactions.
hope that helps.

Divide by 114 then multiply by 100 - gets you the total.

You do it on a calculator - can't do all your homework for you.
