I have a 1996 Ford Taurus and it is in great condition. I have bought it recently and everything works fine. It stands out in the cold now (Chicago) and some of the snow melted off my car and some icicles formed on the bottom of the car around the headlight area. A green tint was on the icicle and I have a feeling that might be leaking from my engine. Anyone know what it could be?

it sounds like a anti freeze but it wouldn't be around the head light area if it was,,check the coolant in it,,and make sure its on,,this is a strange one, make sure all the coolant looks are ok in it before you drive it,,and look in the radiator to see if it looks ok,,good luck i hope this help,s.

It's coolant, don't put any stop-leak in the rad as this will plug the rad and the heater core. If it leaks through the night when it's real cold out but not when it's a decent temperature then it's probably a cold leak. A cold leak is usually just a hose that isn't quite tight enough to seal when the temp. drops and metal parts retract.
Take it in and have it checked, check the coolant mixture and the hoses. Any good shop will pressure test the system.
Also do you wash your headlamp off at gas stations using their squeegy and washer fluid, if so next time your there make a note of the colour of the washer fluid.

Hmmmmm, sounds like something i am familiar with. The other Day i came back from a short Trip and coming off the Freeway, i stopped on a Stop Light. My Car started to Steam !!! I opened the Hood to check it out, couldnt see anything. Continued Home, nothing happened !! Next Day the same Thing. Finally i Discovered a Pinhole in the Radiator, it sprayed onto the Engine so i could'nt determine exactly were it came from. Only squirted every once and a while.

SOunds like your antifreeze was cut to much and it froze. Bad part about this it could have come from so many places. Freeze plug, radiator, engine block. Hope it is something simple for your sake. Might want to change out your anti freeze after the thaw. They sell it now premixed so it can not be cut to much now.

Green usually means antifreeze. Check the cooling system. If you weren't set cold enough, and it froze, you may have popped a freeze plug.

NO doubt about it...bet it is anti-freeze...CHECK ---> 1.your radiator top hose 2. The radiator itself 3.Your overflow tank from the radiator. Something may have popped...so be carefull and don't drive it till you have rectified the problem !!

It's antifreeze, you have a leak in your cooling system. Probably at the radiator hose.

Yep, antifreeze and it's dangerous to animals. I'd have it looked at, or put some stop leak stuff in it.

green is usually coolant, but as cold as it gets up there it could be windshield washer fluid if you have coolant in it.
