Why do people hate white people who 'act black' or black people that 'act white'

If a white person loves hip hop and the lifestyle, why are they called wiggers. If a black person likes rock or DOESN'T like hip hop, reggae, etc why are they called coconuts (brown on outside, white on the inside)

I don't understand why you have to like what your own race like and get abused if you like something or a lifestyle from another culture.

Agree with the first answer - generates from insecurity and the need to belong. For some reason people feel more secure and comfortable when they can assign a label to someone. Stems from centuries of groups and cultures forming their own identities; if a single person does not 'fit in' (i.e. has different tastes) he/she should be 'shunned'. I don't agree with it, but its unavoidable as far as the ways of the world go.

Making judgements (even on a subconscious level) is part of human nature.

Right on! I'm glad there are more people out there who see the stupidity in pigeonholing a race of people with labels. There should be no limits on what an individual of a race is allowed to like. Because of peoples desire to rebel, to put down, and to be superior, these asinine believes thrive

I agree with you mate. It p isses me off that in the 21st century when we are all supposed to know better we still judge people by the colour of their skin. Why for christ's sake.
Racism is another joke, there should be another name for it. We are all one race if some of those dumb F@~k's out there haven't noticed. The human race. We all have the same roots, so what if we look different

i dont think this is true.

although iv been called a wigger... i havent herd of a coconut... this did tickle me! its just so silly.

in my local club on the weekend, theres a trance room and theres a small "rnb" room, which is mainly consistings of black people. but there is never no dislike for anyother race mixing or joining in.

Regular dancin/ m.c'ing you' know things like this take place, and its all people of all colours/ backgrounds...

you get "geeks" messing with "players". . . .

Fear.

Whatever does not stay the same is different, and different is uncharted waters, uncharted waters means the unknown. The unknown for many can be translated into fear of change.

However, I do have to agree that wearing one's pants below their butts is just plain ridiculous. Why wear pants? To me it is not an issue of labeling, but one of severe fashion issues. Just my reasoning, not a labeling or race issue at all, as I feel it to be a ridiculous look no matter who is wearing it. If you came into a job interview to me I would not hire you with your pants to your ankles. It's not professional or respectable in any manner, and unfortunately the look is one that everyone perceives as gang banging, which translates into violence. I personally would not want anyone trying to sell me life insurance with their pants around their ankles...

Hate is a strong word.

I guess due to stereotypes people believe that because you are a certain colour you are meant to be interested in certain music/act a certain way/ dress a certain way. And thus when people do not fall into a stereotype people become insecure because they do not know what to make them!!

Coconuts are LATINOS, we are OREOS, get it right man.

Look, let it bother you or don't play to it. I don't play to it. I'm 5'2" and into Thrash, Metal, Rock n Roll. I love skating, skimboarding, scubadiving (the only black female on the island doing it). Who cares!!!! I grew up in California on the coastline...I'm supposed to be this way.

Look, to be American you must worship the flag, the be Jamaican you must smoke dope, to be Russian you must be anal....we all have pigeon holes...ONLY YOU DECIDE TO FILL THEM OR NOT!!!!
