The song is "The Freshmen" by the Verve Pipe.

"Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice"

I get the first part, but I don't understand the shoe full of rice. Is there a special meaning behind it, or am I just being idiotic and totally missing the obvious point?

Well, not seeing the rest of the song make it difficult. Is it about marriage? A baby's breath is the little white flower used with roses in bouquets. So it could refer to the flower as well as actually stopping a baby from breathing. The shoe full of rice, well, people throw rice at weddings. I'd have to see the rest of the song.

I'm beautiful definite that it is regarding the truth that he is disappointed approximately some thing that has occurred (obviously some thing approximately a lady) and he is consuming alcoho, hoping that he's going to work out what went unsuitable ("There's a tale on the backside of this bottle") and "I'm the pen" in general implies that it used to be all his fault besides. He wrote the tale on the backside of the bottle. I have no idea, that used to be plenty of rambling. Good music even though. All Time Low is my favourite.
