Its a 91 Acura Integra and this morning I turned it on to warm up. 5 minutes later I heard a strange noise from outside and it was jumping from 1000rpms to between 2000 and 2500 rpms. What could the problem be? I hate this car!

it may be your timeing belt is jumping off time
or your EGR is going bad
have a shop take a look at it or you may blow the motor

The MAF ( mass air flow sensor) tells the computer what to set the IAC( idle air control) at. If the iac is dirty it will do strange things. Likewise if the maf sensor is dirty it will do likewise.! There are several sensors that tell the engine what to do at a specific throttle setting..First thing to do is have someone check the maf and clean it..At the same time it wouldn't hurt to clean the iac. These are the most problematic device's that would cause your current problem..If that does not solve the problem have him/her check the coolant temperature sensor. Ofttimes the plug on the temp sensor will be corroded and make poor contact. Usually the temp sensor( for the computer has three wires on it) remains the same all the time.IE: it usually remains either working or not. It does not fluctuate on and off.I think it is the maf or the iac...Other than that ( the most feared words to a customer are, "it could be anything".

Your car is 15-years old. Some things need adjustment after that time. Take it to an independent Acura shop for a check up. And be careful when you put it in "drive." I use an independent Mercedes shop and am very happy. The dealerships give you a real hosing on a 15-year old car, want to remake everything.

It perchance a pc glitch. maximum automobiles have a pc managed idle. the pc receives all kinds of readings from diferent sensors and adjusts the idle to that end. that's a foul sensor or only a pc glitch. If it maintains take it someplace and performance it appeared at.
