We are in a stage 3 water alert. Watering gardens is only allowed on Wed and Sun. My neighbors water their garden every day. I have notified Sydney water 7 times over the last nine days and it appears nothing has been done...what should I do?

I have lived on and around the catchment area all my life and it is ignorant, ill informed and irresponsible to say mind your own business. Lets call this so called drought for what it really is "A Water Famine". I'm with you my friend dob the buggers in. What I have done is: Put a letter in their letter box calling them water thief's, remind them of the restrictions and let them know that they have been reported, If they do not stop contact the head office of Sydney Water in writting and ask why no action has been taken and ask for a written reply. Good luck

I would ask for a supervisor .
Could they possible be using Grey water I had some one report me here in Utah when I was using the water from my showers and Landry I would just have water go on the grass and it would be so green the neighbors were mad because they all had brown lawns and mine was green as could be using reclaimed water . Its very easy to do one of two ways You can have a storage tank that holds all the Grey water in the raining and good rainy season's and use it to sprinkle the lawn. a little costly.about 10 thousand to put it in.
Or a simplistic method is to just use a flat pool house connect to the end of your washer outlet and move around on yard to plants.

I got more elaborate with my system this year about 40 bucks worth of PVC hooking up the shower and the washer to actual PVC pipes which watered my front and back yard. The plants just love the soap and it keeps the bad bugs down. I never had to go out and physically water my garden except one tiny section the water didn't reach. My yard was green When the neighbors found how out they did it too . I used to live in drought ridden California so we know how to conserve.

Also you can put in underground drip lines so it waters only the plants and not the weeds peculates only where you need it watered. Hope this answers your question.

Document the days and times that they water (and how long they run the water). Report it to someone higher up the line. If that doesn't work, go to the press.

I'm sure everyone who is sacrificing by conserving water will be interested.

Call a local news station, let them tape them doing it for a few days straight and then approach them about it.

You've done what needs to be done by notifying Sydney Water, it is now up to them to take it further. ... ... ... there is no point in creating any further animosity between you and your neighbours... ... ... let Sydney Water deal with it... .... ...

Call the police instead. Your neighbours are breaking the law.

After all....when the bush fire reaches your doorstep and the hose runs dry....it could just be because of your selfish neighbours. It might be worth pointing this out to them.....
