What I did was to get a very basic word and then improve it by looking in a thesaurus. You can create your own, non-typical sentences in that way!

You need to give more information and explain exactly what is meant by general elegant expressions?

Do you mean literary expressions used by poets,playwrights or just expressions used by the upper classes?

It might be worth casting your eyes over the classics either in a library or using the net, people like the Dickens,Jane Austin,Bronte,Dumas to name a few then of course there is William Shakespeare some of the plays and sonnets might not be quite right thinking about it.
