I'm losing my mind!

My 10 month old son travelled to India with my husband and I. While we were there at least one person always attended to him. Usually there were three or more. He was not made to sleep, if he cried he was picked up and either played with, fed, or rocked. This went on for a little over two weeks.

We returned this weekend. The time adjust has been hard on all of us. I have returned to our regular routine. However, my son refuses to nap or sleep. Every time I lay him in his crib he screams. I do let him cry it out. But, last night after three hours no one was getting any sleep.

After waking up at one and having a short nap in the car while we went for breakfast he slept in his crib for 30 minutes. He also won't let me out of his sight.

Any ideas on how to get my good baby back?

I'm also nearly four months pregnant and very exhausted...

Ouch! That sounds exhausting! This happens to my kid when we visit my in-laws in CA. They rush in at the first sound, rock him constantly, lay down with him for naps, and generally NEVER let him be the slightest bit uncomfortable in any way! It's hard when we get home but it usually takes about 1-2 weeks for him to get back on track. There really is no magic trick that I've found, other than letting him know I mean business by being persistent. Keep putting him down for naps at the usual time, do what you've always done and have your poker face on....meaning no emotion. He will get back on track, it's just going to be tiring for you! Good luck!

Quite amazingly babies are very adaptable and can adjust to change.

Simply allow your period of change to resolve itself. After sometime your baby will be back on schedule. As you may understand that it takes sometime for even yourself to get back to the swing of the timezone.

Instead of trying to pose all of this right away, perhaps you can gradually reintroduce the time changes to the baby. Perhaps starting with nap times.

Consider the same way that you began upon birth with introducing a scheduled wake/sleep cycle for your baby. It took some time and environmental adjustments on your behalf.

A little patiences will go a long way...before you know it....back to your normal life~

Hang in There !!

It's amazing how quickly they can get used to something else so let this be a hard lesson. I know how rough it is though. Just let him cry until he wears himself out, it may seem mean but its not. He will actually feel safer knowing that you're "the boss" and he isn't. He is feeling insecure about the trip. He was coddled and catered to in a way that he wasn't before and now he feels unsure of himself and his environment. It will be better in no time just hang in there!

He is probably used to hearing sounds and having people around..So I would suggest that maybe you play some music like maybe a soothing cd. At target they usually have the sounds of nature cds . Babies usually dont like whereever they are to be stark quiet so this might work. Either way soon he will learn to console his self. Well I hope all goes back to normal soon...

Just sit and hold him...you are pregnut again...and he is not going to like it when the new baby comes along and you have to put him down....I have 2 grandbabies 9 months apart living in my house, and no the fathers, spurm donners, are not here....I have to hold both of them...now that they are 2 and 3 this year...they still know how has which leg, and will not set on the other one even if in my lap alone.

Ouch! Try some toddler nyquil on the kid. Congrats on the kid and advice, don't travel half way around the world with a kid when theres more than 12 hours time difference!

Just reinforced your old routine until it works..If you pick the baby up during the crying and hold him it will just make him feel that you are rewarding him for bad behaviour.

TRY PUTTING HIM IN HIS SWING WHERE HE CAN STILL SEE YOU! MY SON WENT THROUGH A FAZE WHERE I COULD LEAVE HIS SITE! SO I JUST PUT HIM IN HIS SWING AND WENT ON WITH MY NORMAL DUTIES! (CLEANING, COOKING, ECT)
