I notice that more are wearing just long earrings. Does the dress make the decision , or is it the trendy thing to go "bare"?

if you have really long and fancy earrings a necklace may be too much

I love wearing long earrings. When I try to wear a necklace with it, it always turn out wrong.Looks 'too much'. So I do not wear them. But I would wear a bracelet or bangles with the earrings.I love chunky ones. And a ring too! But hey ,take a look at the Bollywood stars! They wear the longest and most ornate earrings (chandeliars) and also the most amazing matching necklaces. And they look so good!! Must be because of their costumes and the make-up!

It absolutely depends on the dress. Plus long, dangly earrings AND a necklace is too gaudy, in my opinion. I'm wearing a raw-silk, navy-blue halter gown for a black-tie gala next month, and I'm not wearing a necklace because my exposed back is the accessory. But I am wearing simple sapphire and blue topaz long, dangly earrings and a coordinating bracelet.

Paige, if the dress is busy in the front, it is best to wear long earrings, or if they have their hair down.
But like you, I've noticed a trend towards going bare. Drew Barrymore wore a strapless gown a few years ago, with her hair back and small earrings and no necklace, she wore a bracelet instead.

The bare neck is meant to look quite cool and plain, and if theyre wearing big earrings and have the dress as the main feuture of the outfit they want to keep the neck bare so that the dont overdo it :) LuxXx

well it not a trend, its just that depending on the dress and especially the earrings, sometimes adding a necklace just does not look right. sometimes the necklace, especially if you want it to match with your earrings, may seem too bulky or make you look "clustered".

With certain dresses you can't wear certain necklaces or it looks awkward.

Go bare is definetly more trendy. Also, they want to show off their boobs and weirdly skinny collar bones!
