Help me correct and rewrite these misplaced and dangling modifiers?

2."Waking up" dangles because the musket cannot wake up. Rip can and does. Say something like, " On waking up, Rip should have realized that his rusted musket meant that something unusual had happened".
3." Puzzling things" do not stroll into town. "Strolling into town, Rip was greeted by puzzling things". Why "her"? A mistake?... Say "The faces of the people he met were strange". You have intruded "all strange" between "the people" and "he met," which is awkward.
4. There is nothing gramatically wrong with 4.
5. For the sake of clarity, you could put a comma after "friend". but the sentence is okay as you have typed it.
6 dangles because you have placed "trying" next to the old man. It is Rip who is trying to find the innkeeper. And so it should be, "Trying to find the innkeeper, Rip questions...." or "Rip, trying to find the innkeeper, questions...."
7. I am not sure what "eighteen eights" means but there is nothing wrong with the sentence grammatically.
