False. Words can hurt much more than any physical pain. Physical scars heal fairly quickly and tend not to hurt as much as they did at the time of injury. Emotional scars can last a lifetime and when you are forced to re-live them in order to heal them the words you can still hear in your head are just as clear and hurtful as the first time.

I am the opposite of that effect I feel that Words Hurt More in the long run....If I were to be Hit Bruises adn marks go away unless they leave a Scar but at the same time Scarring someones heart and soul is Far worse to me with the words because I was always brought up with the following quote in mind" Think before you Speak, especially if you Intend to say what you Think"

I don't think a stick or stone would break any of my bones, but I do know that words will never hurt me.

False. Words may hurt emotionally much deeper than a physical injury and can in fact cause a depression that causes physical illness and hurt... people forget that the mind is part of the body and controls it- in a conscious or a subconscious way negativity is damaging.

False. Words hurt more than sticks and stones because the pain hangs around longer than the one who caused it.

You can heal form sticks and stones, but with words the pain can last forever. Words are so hard to forget and work both ways. Sometimes knowing that you said the words is painful enough.

False. Unkind words hurt far more, and for much longer, than any strike by a stick or stone. My mother used to chant that all the time, make me say it to people who were unkind. Totally useless, they'd laugh and run off...and I was still hurt.

that is sooooo not true. words won't physically hurt you, but mentally and emotionally. They can strike deeper than any weapon as they are more often than not a personal attack, and can be extremely hard to forget. I still remember nasty things said to me almost 20 years ago. weapons on the other hand will leaves cuts and bruises and such, but the pain only lasts for a short time, although the incident can stay with you. you forget the physical pain.
