Advantages: If you seriously enjoy working with animals, it's a very rewarding career. It's a great way to help animals that are hurt or whatever. Vet techs usually enjoy what they do (i have a lot of experience with them because I have 2 bunnies) and plus- they get to play with animals.
Disadvantages: Low pay, seeing animals that are sick, neglected, abandoned, etc. Schooling, and the hours are crazy.

Advantages include - only 2 years of school, lots of jobs available (wonder why???), vet discounts sometimes.
Disadvantages- waste of money on education better to go straight to bachelor, basically a veterinarians slave- they tend to treat you like crap, low pay, very dirty job will come home smelly every day, you will have to spend money on another degree in a few years because after the first 2 years this career becomes very repetiive and boring, hence why there are so many jobs available most techs end up leaving the field after 2 years or less.

Advantages: very rewarding, you get to help animals in need
Disadvantages: low wages, not being able to help them all, seeing injured helpless animals, dirty working conditions - but if you truly love animals (and I don't think anyone who doesn't is in this field), the working conditions don't matter.
