I have DSL and most of the time it works pretty well but 2-3 times a day I lose my connection. We live in a fairly rural area and dsl just became available about 6 months ago and I've had this problem since we got it. My question is, is this normal for dsl or do we have some settings wrong, should I call the ISP? When it happens I have to turn off the modem and the computer and then restart and it will work. It's very annoying and if I can make it stop doing this I would be much happier. Any ideas?

That's a problem with your connection, and is unfortunately fairly common with DSL. The further you are from the source, the weaker and more inconsistent the signal and connection.

Contact your ISP and see if they can do something. You're paying for the service, so it would be nice to have it.

Sounds like it is an issue with the DSL line. Contact your ISP and let them know. It is probably not a setting on your PC.

Call your provider and ask for a new modem,
those go rather quick, but not that quick - yours sounds faulty.
-if it works after restart, must be the modem
best regards
