I LOVED the BBC version and thought it was brilliantly done. However, NBC's version has really grown into itself and quickly become a favorite of mine. Please contrast and compare the two to support your decision. Upon choosing a best answer I will share my thoughts.

Though some of the characters on NBC's version rise to the level of those on the BBC, Ricky Gervais is a bullseye. Steve Carrell has landed in his ballpark, which is a nearly impossible feat. I love watching both versions, but the original is my favorite.

I loved the BBC version of The Office. I felt more in touch with the characters on BBC. David Brent was such an awful, awful boss that I actually would yell at the TV. Yelling at him to change and not be such an idiot.

The NBC version is okay, but I do not feel as attached to their characters as the other ones. It very well could be because I saw the BBC version first and loved it from the start. Maybe if I had seen NBC first I would like that better.

Ricky Gervais is absolutely brilliant and should be considered the "father" of The Office. The British always seem to do everything better, but I love both versions for the same reason...the actors. All of the wonderful actors portray their characters with wit, humor, and a little bit of crass. Gervais as David Brent is hilarious...but I must admit a little loyalty to Steve Carrell as Michael Scott. I was worried when NBC announced they would be introducing a American version of The Office, because they really screwed up with Coupling and I figured the same thing would happen. However, all of the US actors have developed their character's personality so much that you can't help but love them. Also, the mockumentary concept works so well...I don't think The Office would be as popular if not for the "reality show" feel. We are able to see the "secret" moments that normally couldn't be shown.

I guess my vote would go to NBC's version...I have grown to love the characters (even Dwight) and I can't wait to see what they do next.
