Phooey! You were a Marine. Thank you, thank you, Gorky. I admire anyone who has served in the Marine Corps or any other armed service. You are a teacher. And you have enriched my life. I was just about to leave this site when I found your silly puns. You have challenged my mind and made me literally fall off my chair laughing. You have asked the thoughtful questions that have allowed me to reflect and ponder. Those are 3 very important ways that you matter to others and they all popped into my brain in a matter of seconds.
I taught my children to read. And I taught my students to enjoy the wonderful world of literature for 10 years. That was my goal: to show them how fun the world of books can be. One of my students graduated last year. Her mom told me she still reads ravenously. Besides that....my kitten loves me!

I served on the Citizens Review Board for 5 years and am currently on the executive board for the Salvation Army. I spend every Thanksgiving delivering meals (2000 last year) and I ring the bells for an entire day. I am no Mother Teresa either but I do what I can.

My son is pretty convinced that I am the best thing in this world. My job is to give him a better life (and not just materialistic) than the one I had and hopefully raise him just to be a decent person.
