Everybody hates the French except the Ottomans because French women are beautiful. Ottoman padisahs were aware of this fact.

How on earth can modern technology change the way the English feel about the French? To judge by the number of legless idiots I see in my local area pubs are even more popular now due to the extended opening hours. To answer the main thrust of your question about us hating the French I would say that the feeling is even worse now than 1994. In my own case I have stopped eating French Fries, drinking French wine and using French letters. After all history shows us that no good has ever come of any association between England and the Continent since Julius Caesar - William the Conqueror - Napoleon - Charles de Gaulle - Jacques Chirac and so on. Who ever thought of the phrase Entente Cordiale between the two countries needs a brain transplant.

I have never hated the French, nor do I hate any other nationality. That whole thing is rather old. People need to get on with their lives and accept that other people live on this planet other than them!
I went to France on holiday this year and it was lovely. It was so nice to meet such friendly people, and I was made to feel very welcome.
As for pubs. They are ok in small doses. My friends and I would rather go round each others houses and save money. They are good for the odd pub meal though at the weekend. Delicious!

I've just read through the replies so far and now I feel thoroughly depressed.
Instead of harping on about the differences, real or imagined, why don't we look for points where we can reach each other?
Why do we make decisions based on people's country of origin?
French people are people - same as us. People!
They go to work, they like a bargain, they love, they have kids, they grow old and die.
What's to Hate?
Let it go! Stop the hating and start actually looking at the individuals behind the stereoptypes.

Apologies for the rant, but - honestly!

The English-French relationship is a bit like two neighbours who argue about gardens, friends, decoration etc.
They give the impression that they hate each other while they are in fact very similar people who have few differences on the important aspects of life.

well the English dont seem to like anybody, the thing is they say the french are arrogant, now thats pathetic excuse they keep using the same stereotype excuses on other nations but they still visit those country's on holidays, now how hypocritical is that, what they need to do is grow up and start worring about there own society because its far from perfect,

sort of yes, they are still nick named frogs, and well, italians won't miss a chance to join a "let's mock the french" conversation when they had a few. i would not call it hate, cultural differences... that's it.
