Phishing schemes are a constant nag on your emails although most go to the junk folder ,it still is annoying. Then there are buyers who bid with no intention of paying, and that holds up your sale of your item for a couple weeks at least ,until you can get a credit of your listing fee so you can relist your item.
Prices of listings have gone up,postal rates have also gone up.
It is time consuming, and there is no guarantee that what you list on EBay will be sold.
Paypal fees also take a bite out of your sale, and lately Ebay has been having problems with their computers of transferring money from paypal to bank accounts.
Those are the negatives.
The positives are if you have something worth selling,Ebay is probably the best way to get rid of unwanted items in your home,or collectilbles that you might have that you can turn into cash.
Last year I was going through a financial crunch because of child support and moving expenses of moving from a different city and bills were starting to chase me a little.
I sold most of my Karaoke disks which sold very well on Ebay, and unwanted cd's that I had that I never listen to anymore.
I had very few non payers, and the percentage is like 2 to 3 % of buyers who don't like to pay.
I had maybe a total of 2 to 3 complainers ,but that was minimal, and you have to expect that when selling to the general public. It was minor things such as the battery was low on a camera light,or there was a song that wasn't the song they were looking for on a cd,that they thought it was on the cd even though I listed the CD in a pre filled item information.
Ebay is a good venue to sell items, electronic items, and kitchen appliances for some reason do very well on Ebay. Especially classic items that you cannot buy in stores nowadays.
Ebay has helped me through a financial crunch, and without it,I don't know what I would have done with bills piling up on my desk.
Thanks to Ebay..I made it through.
The positives outweigh the negatives by far.
Hope that helps.

I have stopped selling on Ebay due to the non-paying bidders that never have anything done against them - Ebay always say that they are probably new to the site and don't know how it works properly...
I also resent the fact that you originally pay for your item to be advertised and then you get charged more dependent on how much it sells for!
I also can't believe that Paypal then also take a cut of your profit so by the end it is not worth selling!
No wonder it is one of the richest companies in the world, all those pennies mount up.
While we're on the subject of Ebay, I don't think that people should be allowed to give retaliatory feedback

Why has it become so awful for buyers? rip off postage, goods not as described, ebay not bothered, you want me to continue the list?

Ebay aint a picnic. Some buyers pay late(or not at all) causing probs for the rest of us & some sellers try to rip you off causing probs for the rest too.

Too many scammers using it now I think

I agree it has got bad. I think its because of the general poor quality of goods bought and the fact that no-one really uses the feedback system properly. People are too scared of getting returned negative feedback to say what they really think.
Well that's my theory and I have become more and more disillusioned by it recently.
My apologies to the few good, genuine sellers who I know are still out there.

I suppose you are refering tot he fact that it is harder to get more for your items. That is capitalism. Supply and Demand. Ebay has a flooded supply of stuff and a finite demand. That will drive prices down. Ebay went from an online garage sell to a market place tha thas people who sell household junk as a profession.

I Dunno. But I Agree. Its Dificult For You To Sell Something For What The Item Is Really Worth. I Deal In Sports Cards And Can Never Get Book Value On A Card.

after two close calls about getting refunds on some broken junk (one item was found to be stolen), i gave them up. most is on he up and up but not everything. they were very hard to contact. only using penpal will save you. nope, not gonna chance it again. all i will use in he future is amazon for books etc. it is a jungle on the web. a million bandits just waiting on we fish to nibble at the hook.

i agree with scooter-there's so many people on ebay who are looking for a bargain its almost impossible to get a good price for your stuff-no one wants to pay the full price.

Too many trying to cash in and then doing a midnight flitting, I have been stung once, and once bitten then twice shy
