He was a strange comic back in the day. Some of his stuff was absolutely brilliant - especially the work on the show "Taxi". Some other stuff, though, was just strange, and nobody knew what to make of it. He died of cancer at a young age - 35, 36, something like that.

I watched Taxi, all the time...Andy Kauffman played Latka Gravas, a guy from some wacko country...he was hilarious!! Unfortunately, until they made that movie with Jim Carrey playing him, no one realized what a ****** up life he had and what a jerk he was!!

I thought he was hilarious in Taxi as Latka and later as his other personalities: Vic Ferrari, Alex Reiger (yes he mimicked Judd Hirsche's character) and there were a couple of others.

He was a misunderstood comic genius. Not many people got his brand of humor

I know REM has a song about him. But that's pretty much all I know.

Yes! He was hilarious in taxi for years. He played Latka Gravis. He also had an alter ego on the shows in the later years, but the name escapes me. He was a wonderful talent. It is a shame he left us so early in his life.

Some of Andy Kaufman's stuff was hilarious, some I just did not get.

Yes, he used to wrestle women.

He single-handedly started the idea of impersonating Elvis Presley. If I have my time-line correct, he began to impersonate Elvis while Elvis was still alive.

i remember him in Taxi but was a bit young for the other stuff he did. Saw "Man in the Moon" with Jim Carrey myself and thought it was excellent. Try his name on imdb or google him for more info

I saw him on Taxi. I hated his character Latka, but I liked Latka's alter ego character, Nick, I think his name was.
Seriously, I believe Kauffman was very disturbed and that he did not die of cancer but committed suicide
