It's the cultural thing about prejudice against gays. However I'm assuming he probably didn't even tell his parents about him being gay and about you. Usually for indian children, what parents say or think has a lot of emphasis on how they grow up and how they behave. Even if being gay is your lover's sexual orientation, for parents' sakes he could go and marry a wife.

Also because the society and how they think also plays a huge role in a family, his parents might want him to be straight and be "normal" by marrying girl. Because of the pressure from his parents and society, he could find a wife too and marry her.

However, since he's gay I think he might not be able to satisfy himself or his wife in marriage and it will end up becoming a failed marriage unless he doesn't want it that way.

Did he break up with you already over it? Or is he going to continue your relationship even after marriage? Talk with him about it. After marriage, it not only will be about you two but also will be about the innocent wife too who did nothing wrong to deserve a marriage with a sexually-unsatisfied man. So it is definitely better to clear up before marriage.

Good luck!

It definitely isn't so. Probably we might see a case here and a case there and mostly in some traditional communities deep inside India. But these days, most educated, cosmopolitan Indians do manage to have their way. Even in arranged marriages, the couple are given an opportunity to meet and get to know each other before they have to give their consent. I'd be very surprised if he's facing what he says he is.
