From my Rand McNally it is 300 miles.
I imagine that's using I55 all the way, stop at Springfield and visit Abraham Lincoln's home.
Chicago is a huge sprawling city, it could take you longer to get across it than it does to get there from St Louis.

Hmmm, it really depends on what part of Chicago you are trying to get to. For the most part it is about a 4-5 hour drive. Which is about 260 or so miles away.
