Loved the Rosanne show....but laughed out loud all the time when Darleen and Jackie had something to say. Is there any programme like the above for instance where the supporting actors were funnier than the shows host?

Roseanne, except the show where Darlene was busting on DJ for masterbating, that was the funniest show ever.

I loved that show. They had such talented writers. There were some great lines:
"No you can't take the battery out of the smoke alarm for that toy. I might need it for the remote."
and
"Eat your vegetables, they're good for you. That's why we have them every week."
Darlene and the little boy were good, so was Jon Goodman, but the character I loved to hate was the Gran. Remember her? When the eldest daughter moved into a trailer, the Gran's reaction was "That's lovely dear. You'll be able to vacuum the whole place from one socket."

But I loved Roseanne the best. Her comments about PMT were subtle and so spot on.

Another oldie I loved was the Tracey Ullman show. She is talented and so versatile, she used to make me cry laughing, such as the one where she's the Latin dancer who's forgotten to put on her knickers, or the class system on the plane: "Dinner in Upper class: Steak & kidney pie & mash, followed by apple crumble. Middle Class: Salad with warm chicken livers garnished with raspberry coulis, followed by white chocolate ganache. Lower Class: Steak & kidney pie & mash followed by apple crumble..."

I enjoy The Simpsons. It's the only thing that comes close these days. And Green Wing was pretty good.

wow, good question....that was a good show! I think Darleen was funniest. I wish there were still shows like that! The only one that I laugh at alot is The Office! Reality TV has really taken over and the good old comedies are dwindling away.

Darlene was my favorite...I loved how she treated David and he kept coming back for more :) I think How I Met Your Mother is another good example of the supporting actors being funnier than the stars. Barney is the best part of that show. Will & Grace is another example...should have been called Jack & Karen.

darleens sarcasm was hilarious. i think there are a few shows like that. in king of the hill for example i think Bobby (the son) is funnier than Hank (who is the main character) sometimes it just happens that way.
