I want them to be not too firm but not so soft it feels like i have no pillow. I don't want ones that will go flat in a week. I need 2-4 pillows. And I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Any tips?

Pillow talk

Bed pillows help you get a sound night’s sleep so that you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go in the morning. Bed pillows used for sleeping come in three sizes: standard pillows, queen size pillows, and king size pillows.

Decorative bed pillows used on top of the bed come in two main sizes: standard and Euro. A Euro pillow generally measures 26-inches squared, which provides a more structured, boxy look for your bed.

Many bedding sets provide pillowcases and pillow shams to fit standard and king-size pillows. Buy Euro pillow shams separately. You'll want to buy pillow covers to help keep your pillows clean as well.

Go for comfort when purchasing your bed pillows.

* Pillows for back sleepers: Back sleepers need flatter pillows that provide firm support.
* Pillows for stomach sleepers: Stomach sleepers should choose pillows with a gently sloping surface and tapered ends.
* Pillows for side sleepers: Side sleepers need pillows that have a raised and even sleeping surface, which provides improved neck alignment.

Filling determines the firmness of your pillow. Firmer pillows that keep their shape throughout the night are made of foam. Foam pillows tend to break down after two years or so.

Down pillows offer a good degree of firmness, remain flexible, and can last up to 10 years. You can also mold these pliable pillows to fit your mood.

Consult the manufacturer's cleaning instructions before washing or dry cleaning your pillows.

Simply put, the higher the thread count in a pillow the more durable and plush it will feel. However, we've found that a standard-size 20" by 26" pillow with a 300 thread count is cost-efficient and comfortable to sleep on. But if you're looking for something more luxurious, we'd go with a pillow that has 500-800 thread counts. Of course, 1,000 thread count pillows are great, but you'll also be paying a hefty price for it.
2) A more cost-friendly option would be synthetic/polyester fiber pillows, which are generally hypoallergenic, feels like down and are machine washable. For firmer support, spongy memory foam and Tempur-Pedic pillows are the way to go.

Buy latex foam pillows. They do not have any cotton, or anything else inside, just latex foam. They will stay the same for as long as you own them. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. trust me on this. oh and Im not talking about memory foam either, that stuff is too firm for my liking.

It looks like this.

the one I bought was from Big Lots and only cost me 15.00/ea so you may need to shop around a bit.

unless it is a goose down pillow No I wouldn't. The get you to listen to the sales pitch, try to pressure you and make you feel bad if you don't fall for the pitch and all you get is a pillow you could get at walmart for about $10. And they give it to you at the END of the pitch not the beginning.
