If, indeed, you notified them of your problems on your original application, then YES, you have a case.

I would suggest you make a call to your local Wage and Labor Board (Department of Employment), and see what they have to say. They can investigate, and if you are found to be truthful, force the company to place you back in your original position, or fine them for illegal practices.

As for yourself, you are entitled to compensation under the Americans w/ Disabilities act, which can include back pay. I would consult an attorney on that one.

I suggest you:
1. Get some form of doctor's note stating your work restrictions to submit to your employer. They will have to comply with this, if possible. If they cannot, they will have to at least lay you off and you can get unemployment.
2. Compile all the info you can regarding the harassment by your coworkers. Keep a journal with names, dates, witnesses, details, etc. Give this specific information to the supervisor of your harassers.

Start by speaking with your state's employment agency. You should also seek the advice of a Labor Attorney. Your local bar association should be able to help you. Use the web to find additional resources.

Don't bother with an attorney, it is too risky, too many jerks that take your money and do nothing. Check with the Labor Board that oversees discrimination. It will be an up hill battle for the reasons you mentioned.
