Can I still retrieve my files? The light on the hard disk is still blinking

There must have been some internal damage that will not allow the drive to read itself and properly. The light just means that it is drawing power. Try and find some place that will repair it and recover your data or buy a new drive.

Sorry for you loss.

It's apparent you don't have a removable backup of the files. So the question becomes: are your files important enough to pay for data retrieval. It's expensive.

I regret to inform you that your external harddrive died in the line of duty.
