why are our tropical fish gathering at one end of tank??

It sounds like they could be stressed about something, how new is the tank? Make sure your water params are safe (zero ammonia, zero nitrite, nitrate is around 20 and that your ph is what it needs to be for your fish) and that your temp is correct for your type of fish. If all that is OK and they are new they may be scared of their new home and just give them a couple days to get used to it.

Most tropical fish are community fish, they love to gather around each other. They are usually not very aggresive and love the "company" of each other.

your tank is probobly slanted or the other tropical fish have there teritory and attack the fish that go over to it (them)

They are schooling fish, my gold barbs are constantly surrounding each other and swimming with each other, i find that after they swim around lots, they huddle in a corner to rest.

It might be they are too hot. Are they new fish they might be shy. Are there hiding places for them in tank .
